Cody is from Camden, Alabama. Before becoming a flight instructor at the Shannon School of Aeronautics, Cody was a crew chief and maintainer of  Black Hawk helicopters in the US Army. He never gave up on his dreams of becoming a pilot, and he encourages his students not to either
